Committee Republicans Sign Letter Urging SBA to Deny PPP Loans for Abortion Providers, Luetkemeyer Co-Leads
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last week, House Committee on Small Business Republican Members signed a letter sent to the Small Business Administration (SBA) requesting information on past and potential future Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) access for Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and other ineligible abortion-providing organizations.
Ranking Member Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO) co-led the letter with Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (R-AZ).
Below are excerpts from the letter:
“These organizations applied for and received about $80 million in funding meant for small and struggling businesses. The SBA and U.S. Treasury Department have asked these organizations to return the funds, but to date, no funds have been returned...
"In the interest of protecting American businesses and American tax dollars, we write to ask what the SBA will do to get PPP funds back from PPFA and other abortion providers and what measures the SBA is taking to deny PPP funding to these ineligible businesses. We look forward to your response.”
