WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last night, House Committee on Small Business Ranking Member Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO) released the following statement on the Democrats' political overhaul of the small business budget reconciliation.

"Now more than ever, small businesses, entrepreneurs, and startups across the country need responsible, targeted relief to open their doors and contribute to our economy once again," said Luetkemeyer. "It is clear that Democrats are focusing on partisan politics while wasting millions of taxpayer dollars by rewarding their political allies with funds intended for our hardest hit small businesses. Democrats on this committee must commit to working across the aisle to provide our nation’s hardworking men and women with the freedom and relief they deserve."

Below is a list of numerous proposals that Small Business Committee Republicans offered but Democrats refused to consider.

  • Democrats dismissed robust oversight over the Biden administration’s small business and lending programs.
  • Democrats denied the suspension of direct PPP funds for Planned Parenthood.
  • Democrats failed to support our rural communities, especially farmers and ranchers.
  • Democrats declined to answer for the economic fallout from President Biden’s misguided EO canceling the Keystone XL Pipeline.
  • Democrats neglected to increase crucial support for our local restaurants.
  • Democrats rejected the termination of direct PPP funds to individuals convicted of nonconsensual sexual felonies, misdemeanors/felony crimes of violence, and misdemeanor/felony assault on a police officer.
  • Democrats opposed halting PPP funds for their political labor union allies, rewarding each union with up to $10 million in taxpayer dollars.
  • Democrats refused to consider the negative impact that $15.00/hour minimum wage would have on small businesses.
