Ranking Member Chabot Praises Steady Job and Wage Growth
WASHINGTON - Today, House Committee on Small Business Ranking Member Steve Chabot (R-OH) released the following statement after the United States Department of Labor announced that nonfarm employment rose by 164,000 in July and hourly earnings increased by 3.2 percent over the past 12 months. In addition, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) reported that 32 percent of small business owners reported raising wages, an increase of 4 percent from June.
“I’m pleased to see the continued positive effects of our economic policies. With 164,000 jobs added this July and wages increasing by 3.2 percent year-over-year, America’s 30 million small businesses are experiencing sustained economic growth that allows them to hire workers and increase compensation.”
